Bert Kreischer was born November 3, 1972 in Tampa, Florida as Albert Kreischer Jr. After attending Jesuit High School, Bert went to Florida State University where he joined Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

He majored English. FSU ranked first by “The Princeton Review,” in 1997’s ranking of America’s top “party colleges”. Kreischer later dubbed “the Number One Party School in America” by Rolling Stone, which featured him in a six page feature titled “Bert Kreischer: the Undergraduate.”

Oliver Stone intrigued by the essay and requested Bert’s story. Stone received screenplays from many writers. After the agreement broken, one of the authors changed Kreischer’s name to “Van Wilder” and sold the screenplay to National Lampoon.
