A Vietnam War veteran died after being beaten by carjackers in broad daylight in Chicago
Carjacking Chicago : After being beaten by attempted carjackers in broad daylight, a Vietnam War veteran died of a heart attack in Chicago.

Keith Cooper, 73, died in the Hyde Park area at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday after two persons demanded his car as he did errands.
They then repeatedly hit him in the head, according to police, as witnesses intervened to stop the assault.

His heart couldn’t handle the strain of the assault, according to his relatives, and he died of a heart attack at the hospital.
“He was like a second father. He was my father-in-law, but he was also a father figure to me “Curtis Carlton expressed his thoughts. “He was unrivalled. Keith was the best of the bunch.”
Cooper died only days before his 74th birthday, leaving behind a history of serving in the Marine Corps and surviving two combat tours in Vietnam.

The office of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot did not respond to a request for comment on Cooper’s death right away.
Two suspects in the case have been apprehended and are being questioned by Chicago police.
The department did not immediately respond to a request for more information about the suspects from Fox News.
Carjackings in Chicago have surged in previous years, with a 135 percent increase in 2020 compared to 2019, from 603 to 1,416 carjackings.
The criminality has continued into 2021, with at least five carjackings reported in a single 24-hour period last month.
In January, Chicago police Supt. David Brown added 40 officers and four sergeants to a carjacking task group in response to the recent spike.
