Collin Morikawa won the Open Championship for the second time, his second major championship
Colin Morikawa : On Sunday, Collin Morikawa won the 2021 Open Championship by a hair over Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, and Louis Oosthuizen.
It was Morikawa’s second career major triumph. In 2020, he won the PGA Championship.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, he is only the second player in history to win both the Open Championship and the PGA Championship before turning 25.
He became the second person to reach the milestone, following Tiger Woods.
It was his first appearance in the competition, just as it was his first appearance at the PGA Championship when he won it last year.

At Royal St. George’s, he went the final 31 holes without making a bogey.
He finished two strokes ahead of Spieth in the final round of the competition, which he started one shot behind the leader.
Morikawa’s score was the lowest of the Open Championship’s 15 appearances at Royal St. George’s.
After shooting a 67 in the first round, a 64 in the second, and a 68 in the third, he finished with a 66 in the final round.
Morikawa shot a 15-under-par total during the tournament. Spieth finished at 13-under, while Rahm and Oosthuizen tied for 11th. With a 9-under, South African pro Dylan Frittelli finished out the top five.
Earlier in the season, Spieth won the Valero Texas Open and finished second at the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Rahm had just won the US Open, while Oosthuizen had placed second in both the PGA Championship and the US Open.
