The Dallas Zoo is one of the most popular zoos in the entire world. The Zoo also has Safari Splash and the Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo. The Dallas Zoo is home to over 200 species of animals. Clouded Leopards (Gorillas), and Lions are just a few of the many animals at Dallas Zoo.
Gorilla habitats
Ten endangered gorillas can be found in the Dallas Zoo’s gorilla enclosures. Their sizes range from 175 to 325 pounds. You will notice their distinctive facial features, which include sharp canines and flat noses.
Gourds are known to spend their lives foraging for food. They don’t usually attack humans. Instead, they will only attack an intruder if they feel threatened.
Western lowland gorillas are found in the rainforests of Africa. Cameroon (Central African Republic), Gabon, Gabon, the Congo are some of their habitats.
Silverbacks form a bond between female gorillas and their silverbacks. In order to keep their troops in touch, the dominant males will use an identifiable smell.
Gorillas can be timid creatures that avoid confrontation. When provoked they can prove to be extremely dangerous.
Their family, or troop, can contain up to 30 individuals. A family troop is one and the other is a bachelor troop. Every troop has a silverback leader.
To help endangered west lowland gorillas, the Dallas Zoo also collaborated with Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International. The world’s largest gorilla conservation organisation.
Safari Splash
The Dallas Zoo has thousands of animals. It is the oldest zoological park in Texas, and is located about 3 miles south of downtown Dallas. You can see a wide variety of wildlife in this 126-acre park, including endangered species like the Sumatran tiger and African penguins.
The zoo has a great children’s area, with activities for the young and the young at heart. Safari Splash offers a great place to take a plunge in the warm water.
You will find four slides as well as a water drop feature. You’ll receive a 300-gallon water splash every five minutes. If you’re looking for more action, you can climb up the multi-level climbing structure.

Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo
Dallas Zoo’s Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo provides a memorable and engaging experience for children. There are five areas within the zoo. The zoo is divided into five distinct areas. Each one offers a completely different experience to young visitors.
The Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo’s most distinctive feature is its bubbling fountain. It is interactive, and visitors can even feed the animals.
Wilds of Africa is an additional highlight of Dallas Zoo. A self-guid tour can be taken through six African habitats. They can also enjoy the Monorail Safari.

Clouded leopards
Clouded leopards at Dallas Zoo are no threat to humans. But they are vulnerable to poaching. Habitat loss also puts them at risk.
They are mostly nocturnal. They can found anywhere from Sumatra to the Himalayas. With human care, the species can live for 17 years.
Employees of Dallas Zoo discovered on Friday that one clouded leopard had disappeared. The staff began searching for the leopard and it found to be escap.
A day of searches ended early. Zoo workers were able to locate the animal using an infrared drone. It was discover near its habitat.
Dallas Police Department opened a criminal investigation into how the clouded leopard escaped. CBS News reported that Chief Michael McMillan, a Dallas Police Department officer, found evidence suggesting that someone had tampered with his enclosure.
Dallas Zoo is currently investigating the status of the disappearing clouded leopard. Officials at the Zoo have advised people to avoid approaching this rare feline, which isn’t dangerous for people.
