On set in Morocco, a grip on the second unit of Indiana Jones 5 Crew Member was discovered deceased in his hotel room from causes unconnected to the film’s production.

A member of the crew working on the fifth Indiana Jones film died unexpectedly in his hotel room in Fes, Morocco.

According to Deadline, Nic Cupac’s cause of death has not been revealed, although it was unrelated to the film’s development. Tupac, 54, served as a grip on Indiana Jones 5’s second unit, filming on location in Morocco.

“Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Nic Cupac, an extraordinarily talented colleague and part of the film community who will be deeply missed,” a Lucasfilm spokeswoman said in a statement.

Tupac had a long list of accomplishments in the film industry. He worked in the camera and electrical departments on films including Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story, the Harry Potter and Jurassic World franchises, and the recently released Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Indiana Jones 5 has previously been delayed due to Disney rearranging their picture slate in response to the continuing coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic and obstacles such as director Steven Spielberg’s resignation and star Harrison Ford’s shoulder injury in June. The action-adventure film will be released in theatres on June 30, 2023.
