New Jersey Election Results saw a contest between Tom Kean Jr., a Democrat and Susan M. Kiley. They are both up against strong competition to be reelected in the United States House of Representatives.
Frank Pallone Jr. is the Democratic incumbent U.S. Rep.
New Jersey Election Results Frank Pallone, a Democratic incumbent for New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District is running. His tenure in Congress has been almost two decades. His District includes Monmouth County. It also encompasses the Bayshore, and other areas. His career as a Congressman has included work on such issues as the environment, criminal justice reform and coastal resilience.
Since 1993, he has been part of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. This congressional committee has the most extensive jurisdiction, covering issues related energy, commerce and communication and technology.
He helped pass the Safe Drinking Water Act and Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act. He was also a supporter of Hillary Clinton’s candidacy for the presidency.
Pallone was elected to the Senate in order to provide health care for children. He successfully pushed for provisions to ensure continuous coverage for children.
Rep. Josh Gottheimer is a Democrat
In New Jersey’s fifth district, Josh Gottheimer, a Democrat incumbent has been reelected for a fourth term. He represents Northern New Jersey. This includes portions of Sussex, Passaic, and Bergen counties. The district spans from New York City to rural areas. His campaign drew little national attention. Gottheimer is still admired by progressive and center-right groups.
Gottheimer received millions in donations for his campaign. However, he has not been endorsed by a primary challenger. Instead, he has garnered outside Democratic organizational support.
Gottheimer is also an active member of the Problem Solvers Caucus. It works to identify areas for agreement. In January, Gottheimer was elected to co-chair the caucus. They have addressed issues such as infrastructure and healthcare access.
Gottheimer is also active in financial sanctions against foreign agents aiding Hamas. His support for law enforcement has been loud as well. The New Jersey State Troopers Fraternal Association has given him endorsements.
Democrat incumbent U.S. Rep. Tom Kean Jr.
Tom Kean Jr. was the son of a well-known former governor. He won a difficult rematch against Tom Malinowski (Democratic incumbent) Tuesday in New Jersey’s seventh congressional district. This was the first win for Robert Winthrop Kean Jr.’s grandson in an election that he had won since 1956.
New Jersey Election Results Kean served in the state Senate for four years before running for the U.S. House in 2000 and 2006. He has served on the Senate’s commerce and higher education committees.
Kean lives in Westfield and has promised to work for American industry, cut wasteful spending, promote energy independence, etc. But, the campaign website does not address gun-related issues.
The money coming from the National Republican Party is fueling Kean’s campaign. To support Kean’s candidacy the House Majority PAC has spent $1 million in television advertising. Kean’s campaign didn’t respond to many requests for interviews, despite all the expenditure.
Kean avoided media interviews for the last two years. His campaign has also been quiet on questions about Trump’s presidency. Kean had earlier stated that he was in favor of abortion rights. Kean later said that he supports a 20 week ban on abortions.
GOP incumbent U.S. Rep. Susan M. Kiley
There is a close race in New Jersey’s 6th Congressional District. The odds of Sue Kiley winning the race are favorable. She has won the GOP primary with 57.3% of the vote. Und she’s been running an extremely strong campaign.
She lists health care as her top issue, along with crime and education. Kiley was a part of two Middlesex County Town Halls. This is a good indication that she’s the front runner in the district.
A key factor to consider is the percentage of unaffiliated voters. About 19 percent of the state’s population is nonpartisan. They include voters from minor parties and independents.
According to the Consumer Price Index, grocery prices rose 13.5% during the past year. The bread price is also up 16%
New Jersey has a tenth of its population made up of Asian Americans. These are the fastest-growing race in New Jersey. Many Asian Americans are planning to vote at the next midterm election.
