Officers Ambushed : According to a police association, ambush attacks on law enforcement officials have increased by 91% year to date compared to 2020.

As of June 30, the National Fraternal Order of Police reported 51 law enforcement personnel shot, 13 of whom died, in 40 ambush-style attacks, a 91 percent increase over the same period last year.
According to the group’s 2020 overview, there were 48 ambush-style strikes in 2020, with 60 cops wounded and 12 killed.
Meanwhile, according to the FOP’s numbers, 150 cops had been shot as of Wednesday night, with 28 dead by gunfire so far this year.
The organisation is warning about a “surge in violence against law enforcement’s heroic men and women.”
Officials claimed two Atlanta police officers were attacked while responding to reports of shots fired in the city’s Midtown section on Wednesday.
According to Deputy Atlanta Police Chief Charles Hampton Jr., the officers went into an apartment building to investigate and “were immediately attacked with gunfire” when the elevator door opened.
According to authorities, the policemen returned fire, killing one of the suspects.

A bystander said he heard a barrage of gunshots and afterwards saw an officer bleeding profusely as he was carried away from the scene on Peachtree Street, a key thoroughfare in Atlanta’s crowded Midtown sector.
At a press conference with police officials, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms applauded the officers for their quick actions.
The mayor stated, “These officers were ambushed.”

Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant said the wounded officer was in stable condition at a hospital and spoke to fellow officers and family members.
