Game Press X To Doubt is one of the most iconic video game memes, but where did it come from? Since 2013, the meme has gained a lot of traction.
“X To Doubt” is one of the most popular gaming memes, but where did it originate? In recent years, video game memes have become increasingly famous, such as Skyrim’s Speech 100 meme or Heavy Rain’s iconic “X To Jason.”
What is Game Press x to doubt Meme
These memes usually focus on one specific or strange aspect of their respective games, but there are some outliers, such as the “Who Created Kirby?” meme, which was created as a result of a Google bug.
Rockstar Games’ games have spawned a slew of memes, with the Grand Theft Auto series and Red Dead Redemption 2 both inspired bizarre jokes. L.A. Noire is a low-key Rockstar game from 2011 that follows LAPD investigator Cole Phelps.
Though it still has a sandbox city loaded with side objectives for players to locate, the game focuses more on detective work, interviewing suspects, and hunting for clues than on causing chaos or getting into shootouts.
Despite being one of Rockstar’s most underappreciated games, L.A. Noire did not receive a sequel. The “X To Doubt” meme, which generally takes the shape of a reaction photograph starring Phelps, who was played in the game by Arron Staton, was one thing the game did produce (Mad Men).
“X To Doubt” is a slang term for expressing strong mistrust regarding the veracity of a statement or comment. It’s utilised during interrogations in the game, where Phelps can respond to a statement with one of three options: “Truth” if he believes what’s being told, “Lie” if he doesn’t, and “Doubt” if he’s not so sure.
Since its inception in 2013, the “X To Doubt” meme has gained a large following, typically appearing in comment sections in response to a dubious claim or statement. There are further variations on the original L.A. Noire image, such as “X To Be Skeptical” or “X To The Story You’re Currently Speaking Of Seems Illegitimate,” where Phelps’ reply becomes more and more conversational.
L.A. Noire’s “Press X To Doubt” meme, like Heavy Rain’s “Press X To Jason,” has proven amazingly flexible for such a simple joke. Unfortunately, there’s no hint that L.A. Noire 2 is in the works at Rockstar Games, which means that fans won’t be getting any new memes anytime soon.
However, given that Red Dead Redemption 2 took nearly a decade to release, there’s always the possibility that L.A. Noire 2 may be released eventually – which, ironically, is a fantastic opportunity to employ the X To Doubt meme.
