The incident occurred Monday in the parking lot of a bowling alley, according to a news statement from the Davie Police Department in Florida, involving two victims, one of whom was Smith, Davie Police Department public relations coordinator Sarah Andera confirmed to USA TODAY.

The two victims were standing outside Spare bowling alley when two unidentified armed males approached them, according to police. The attempted robbery of a gold chain necklace turned physical, and police claim the suspects fired rounds, wounding Smith in the shoulder.
According to authorities, Smith was taken to a local hospital and was in severe condition. Before the cops arrived, the suspects had fled the site.

The rapper was detained in October for allegedly conspiring with others in a COVID-19 Paycheck Protection Program relief fraud. According to a news release from the Department of Justice, the rapper was detained for $24 million in wire fraud, bank fraud, and conspiracy to conduct wire fraud.
Authorities claim Smith used the bogus PPP loans to purchase a $96,000 Ferrari and other high-end things.
