Stranger things season 4 poster Released After a long wait, Stranger Things season four will finally make its debut on Netflix this year – twice! The streaming site announced the next installment is twice the length of any previous season and will be released in two parts, providing us with two release dates Volume One on May 27 and Volume Two on July 1.
A series of posters released to tease Stranger Things season 4 also hints at its quick reuniting even when everyone from Hawkins, Indiana is miles apart. A new terror will bring them together in this epic season which serves as the penultimate installment before Stranger Things 5 kicks off its final chapter!
Stranger Things Season Five Marks the Start of an Ending: Will This Be Its Final Episode?
The Duffer Brothers, who created Stranger Things, issued a letter to fans explaining its long hiatus. It wasn’t just due to COVID; Stranger Things season four is actually quite long – twice as long as any previous season in terms of runtime. With nine scripts mentioned, it appears the season may consist of nine extra-long episodes released over two volumes; however, how they decide to edit those scripts remains to be seen; though it wouldn’t be a total shock if those installments end up being split into more episodes anyway.
The streamer also provided an official synopsis for Stranger Things season four, featuring an all-new monster for the group to battle and a potential solution.
No matter how long season four lasts, Stranger Things 5 will mark the conclusion of their show. The Duffers have always said this was their general expectation for how long their story would go; however, that doesn’t guarantee an end for Stranger Things as we know it today. In their letter they also hint at potential spinoffs which we have previously reported on. So while Hawkins residents’ tale may come to an end, Stranger Things won’t necessarily follow suit.
Before we look forward, however, there is plenty of exciting new story material to discuss right now. These announcements also came with four posters teasing Stranger Things season four – each hinting towards an epic reunion that won’t need to worry about time or space restrictions – just a parallel dimension full of monsters!
Stranger Things Season Four Poster #1: An Unusual Reunion Spot
Netflix
We didn’t have to wait long for Hopper’s fate when it came to learning his fate in Stranger Things 4. An early promo revealed he wasn’t dead after all in season three; rather, he’s alive (though not well) inside a Soviet prison. Though we never expected him to stay there very long, the first Stranger Things season four poster teases an unexpected reunion – not because of “who” but “where”.
David Harbour’s Chief is seen standing alone in a prison yard, looking to ensure no one else is watching or following. After something terrible has transpired – an undead Demogorgon lies dead, bloodstains the snow, weapons tossed aside and torn-down gates litter the yard – there’s no sign of anyone watching or following him. Unfortunately, Chief Hopper also meets two old friends from home: Winona Ryder’s Joyce Byers and Brett Gelman’s Murray Bauman.
How did they get to Russia? That glowing red circle in the ground seems likely the answer; it has vines from the Upside Down emerging from it. Jim Hopper from Indiana to Russia was instantly transported there in Season Three’s finale by Stalin’s portal-opening machine,
suggesting there must be some kind of door connecting both places – perhaps through which Joyce and Murray made their way there before or after this nightmare bloodbath?
How did they even know Hopper was still alive let alone found him so quickly? Or did he actually make his way back first and take them with him? Why would he return to a Siberian prison taking his friends with him?
Stranger Things Season Four Poster #2: Eleven Returns Home
Hopper, Joyce and Murray have each other; Eleven however is left alone in her stranger things season 4 poster. As she walks through the remains of Hawkins Laboratory – where Dr. Martin Brenner imprisoned her and other gifted children – there’s a Coca-Cola can similar to one she destroyed while training there as well as a broken mirror that shows Eleven’s younger self under Brenner’s control – she finds herself questioning why she’s back here at all? Why isn’t she out with Jane Byers’ family on the West Coast yet? And why is Jane looking back at her? Is Brenner still haunting her too?
But even more menacing is Eleven’s path towards a glowing hole from the Upside Down, found at the center of every Stranger Things season four poster. However, this portal holds special significance since this building has long been an entrance to that dimension. With no allies left behind, Eleven will need all the help she can get if she hopes to survive whatever lies within this abandoned building.
Stranger Things Season Four Poster #3: A Creepy Clock in a Creepy House
Time travel was already hinted at in Stranger Things 4, and whether or not it does, that menacing clock in Creel House’s trailers seems to be telling us something. Moreover, some of Hawkins’ most fearsome young fighters appear to be telling themselves something too; like “Stead away from the glowing portal!”
Why is this house so significant and why does time feature prominently in this season? Eleven’s former reflection staring back at her from this strange things season 4 postertakes on even greater significance when seen alongside its companion poster. No matter what occurs in Hawkins, at least this group is together – just maybe not the numbers on that ominous grandfather clock!
Stranger Things Season Four Poster #4: California Nightmare’s
No matter where your kids go in life, Hawkins will always remain a part of them. That message is illustrated perfectly in the fourth and final stranger things season 4 poster in this collection: the Byers boys and their new friend might be enjoying some tropical sun in Hawkins, but they’re also still stuck inside the Upside Down (at least Will is still riding his bike – we hope none of his previous experiences has ruined his love for exercise!).
Though the new West Coast residents do have an old friend with them, Mike, it appears the two will not reunite if she returns to Hawkins Lab. It remains uncertain if she and Mike will reunite there or not.
