Pulimurugan [ 2016 ]

After a phenomenal opening weekend, Mohanlal’s blockbuster Pulimurugan has crossed the four-crore mark in the box office.
The movie’s outstanding performance has broken the record set by the previous year’s blockbuster, Kali. It is the first Malayalam film to break the four-crore mark on the opening day.
The film was one of the highest grossing Malayalam movies ever released in 2016. Starring Mohanlal, the movie broke all the box-office records in Kerala and Cochin.
The movie was released on 214 screens across Kerala, including special fan shows. It broke all Bollywood records, and earned a record-breaking 94 crores worldwide! The graphics sequences in Pulimurugan were praised by critics and moviegoers.
The music work of the movie is by Gopi Sunder, for the lines of Rafeeq Ahammed. Reportedly there will be four songs in this movie. First song “Kaadaniyum Kalchilambe…” sung by K.J. Yesudas and K.S. Chitra is already a hit within no time
Baahubali 2 [ 2017 ]
Baahubali 2 is a sequel of the critically acclaimed 2006 film. It continues the story of two warring royal cousins in an ancient mythical kingdom.
This film stars top South Indian actors, including Prabhas, Rana Daggubata, Tamannaah, and Anushka Shetty. The film’s release in Kerala drew a crowd, as it surpassed the previous record for the highest grossing movie in the state.
The film has performed particularly well in Kochi, which has the largest concentration of multiplexes in Kerala.
In addition to Kochi, the film also did amazingly well in the Malabar region, which includes the cities of Malapuram and Kozhikode. It also did well in the Kasargod and Travancore districts.

The movie has crossed the Rs 21.1 crore mark in the first four days. Moreover, it has clocked nearly 100 per cent occupancy in cinemas in Kerala.
This has prompted several Malayalam film enthusiasts to buy tickets and watch Lucifer in the cinemas. ‘Lucifer’ has become one of the highest grossing movies in Kerala.
The film’s worldwide box-office collection has crossed the Rs 150 crore mark in only 21 days. Prithviraj, a Malayalam director, has previously directed Pulimurugan (2016), which had a theatrical run of 200 days.
Film pundits have predicted that Lucifer will surpass Pulimurugan’s record in the next few days.
KGF Chapter 2 [ 2022 ]
In the year 2016, Yash starrer ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ stands as the top opening day grosser in the state. The Prashanth Neel directorial film minted Rs 7.52 crores on its opening day, beating Mohanlal’s ‘Odiyan’.
The film was met with mixed reviews from the audience but gained traction due to its heavy promotional campaigning.
Set in a rural area, Kanchanamala is an action film based on a true story about a famous politician and film producer from Kerala.
The film was directed by Sathyan Anthikad and starred Parvathy Thiruvothu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The movie also featured Fahadh Faasil in the lead role, lending a light tone to the movie.
It grossed 51.8 crores worldwide and remains the highest grossing movie in the state.
