Top Gun, directed by the late Tony Scott and starring a teenage Tom Cruise as Maverick, Anthony Edwards as Goose, Val Kilmer as Iceman, and Kelly McGillis as Top Gun instructor Charlie, was one of the first box office successes for the late Tony Scott.

After meeting at a pub the night before, maverick says this in his second encounter with Charlie. It’s Mav’s response to Charlie’s question on how he saw a MiG 28 perform a 4g negative dive.
This line follows maverick’s classified statement to Charlie. Maverick eventually reveals to Charlie that the plane was upside down, disproving her theory that a MiG 28 was limited in its capacity to conduct a 4g negative dive when Mav and Goose tell her they were “communicating” with the other pilot.
This line is spoken by maverick’s commanding officer, Stinger, as part of a lengthy conversation in which Mav and Goose are chastised for their dangerous actions in the air.
Where have you been if you haven’t heard this one? Maverick and Goose exchanged the most famous sentence from “Top Gun,” which exemplified their camaraderie.
When Goose’s wife, Carole, greets her husband, a then-unknown Meg Ryan says this line.
Iceman says maverick near the end of the movie, when the adversaries agree to a truce of sorts, except that maverick suggests Iceman be his wingman instead.
Near the end of the film, this phrase references something maverick said to Charlie when they first started dating. Following their breakup.
Charlie ultimately returned to meet him, and the two were able to rebuild their friendship.
