What happened to Fred: Lucas Cruikshank, the inventor of Fred? Fred Figglehorn, a hyperactive six-year-old boy with a squeaky, high-pitched voice similar of Alvin And The Chipmunks, initially appeared in a video made by Lucas Cruikshank and his cousins. When Cruikshank was only 13, the first Fred video was released in 2006, and the character rapidly became a viral sensation. He later started his own YouTube channel, which became the first to reach one million subscribers.

While many people regarded Fred to be a grating annoyance, Lucas Cruikshank’s channel’s massive popularity could not be denied. While the channel’s content was appealing to children, Fred’s past is quite gloomy. His mother is an alcoholic and drug addict, and his father, whom he has never met, is on death row. Fred: The Movie was released in 2010, and it featured John Cena (Bumblebee) as Fred’s fictitious father. Fred’s character was slightly toned down for the film, which got mixed reviews. Fred 2: Night Of The Living was the first of two TV sequels. Cena makes cameo appearances in both Fred and Fred 3: Camp Fred.

Titans co-star Ryan Potter played the title character’s best buddy Bryan in the Nickelodeon series Fred: The Show, in which the character also appeared. The sitcom barely lasted one season, and Lucas Cruikshank, maybe sensing the joke was running old, left the position.

Because the Fred channel remained one of the most popular on YouTube, an attempt was made to rebrand it in 2014. New videos with kid-friendly content were uploaded without the presence of Fred himself, however the channel was shut down in 2015 after this bizarre experiment failed.

In recent years, other YouTubers have surpassed Fred’s prominence, yet the old channel continues to attract views. Since his retirement, Lucas Cruikshank has played Fred in a few skits, but there are no plans for a major revival. Lucas Cruikshank, on the other hand, has his own YouTube channel, Lucas, which has over 3 million subscribers.

While many people thought Fred to be obnoxious, it was nevertheless a remarkable achievement on Lucas Cruikshank’s behalf to develop a ridiculous comic character into a full-fledged franchise. In addition to cameo appearances on the Monster Vs Aliens show and iCarly, he got three movies and a TV series out of it, and he knew when the moment was perfect to gracefully step out. While he isn’t as well-known as he once was, he still has a popular solo channel and a significant fan base.
