A Northern California High School student was arrested after stabbing another student during a fight at the school. As a 15-year-old student, he has been taken into custody on suspicion of homicide and other charges connected to this stabbing incident that took place on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
Tragically, one 16 year old junior lost his life and another student sustained severe injuries; unfortunately, details about these individuals are yet unknown but our sources are working hard to collect them.
Following the incident, police were summoned and a 15-year-old freshman was taken into custody by Santa Rosa Police. All three students involved are male and were all male when reports say both junior victims walked into an art classroom at 11:15 AM at Montgomery High School and started fighting with the freshman, according to John Cregan, Santa Rosa Police Chief during a conference.
As news of this incident spread throughout school, students have felt an immense sense of fear; reports state there were 30 people present in that classroom.
15 Year Old Student Arrested
Some reports state teachers broke up their fight, but at that moment a freshman took out his folding knife and stabbed the juniors.
This attack has shocked Santa Rosa – known for its wineries 50 miles (80.5 kilometers north of San Francisco – and led to lockdowns at several nearby schools while authorities searched for the suspect. It happened in an art classroom filled with students at Montgomery High School.
On Thursday, Montgomery High School remained closed as principal Adam Paulson described it as “the saddest day anyone can remember at Montgomery High” in a letter sent out to parents, students, and the school community.
According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Jayden Jess Pienta (16), a junior in the school; additionally, the victim who survived was also 16 years old and also attended Montgomery High.
Police did not reveal the identity of 15-year-old student, a freshman, due to his juvenile status. Now he faces serious felony charges of homicide, attempted homicide and having a weapon on school premises.
