OPP confirmed the news by tweeting at 11:19 AM Wednesday: “Brock Road/Wellington Road 46 is closed between Maltby Road and Wellington Road 34′.” It should be noted that another tragic incident took place nearby: reporter was struck by a vehicle.
This new injury has captured everyone’s attention – unfortunately another tragedy in one place that many remember from years past.
According to reports, CTV Kitchener reporter Stephanie Villella was tragically struck and killed while covering an incident south of Guelph while doing her work with her cameraman.
Reports state she was standing inside a barricade at Brock and Maltby roads when an elderly motorist driving a sedan struck her.
Unfortunately, Stephanie could not survive the impact and closed her eyes in agony. Since news of her passing spread, many have come forward to pay their respects.
What Happened to Stephanie Villella?
According to reports, Stephanie Villella was photographing an incident when she was tragically hit by a sedan. She had been standing inside the barricade when the elderly driver driving on that same road struck her and killed her.
It remains uncertain whether she died on-the-spot or was taken to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Though no confirmation exists regarding this incident, Stephanie Villella tragically lost her life in this tragic incident.
Villella suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision and the driver who remained at the scene but failed to give any details about themselves. Although police did not identify him, Villella remains missing today.
Stephanie Villella began her journalism career in Waterloo Region in 2009 as a print journalist. Later, she transitioned into television journalism with Rogers TV in 2011, followed by joining CBC News Network as reporter/editor for “The National”.
Later on, Stephanie joined CTV Kitchener team as well in 2013 where she continued working until retirement. Her contributions to journalism industry will always be remembered fondly by colleagues.
