10 Celebrities Who Died In 2021: The world of entertainment, sports, and culture has seen many beloved stars leave for heavenly abode in 2021. From legendary talk show host Larry King (many of us would call Spectrum to ensure we had the network airing his show in our service plan!) to rap icon DMX, these stars left us in 2021.

1. Larry King 

Larry King was a giant of the talk show industry. The legendary talk show host began his career in the fifties. He conducted close to 50,000 interviews during his illustrious career. King had the distinction of being the longest-running talk show host in the U.S. He was also revered for his distinct approach to conducting interviews. Sadly, the radio and talk show host died on January 23 after contracting COVID. He was 87 at the time of his death. 

2. DMX

DMX is arguably the most famous name on this list. The rap icon began his career in the early nineties. He made his professional debut in 1998 with the release of “It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot.” The album went on to achieve critical acclaim and commercial success. It sold more than 250,000 copies immediately following its release. Sadly, rap lost one of its biggest stars on April 9. DMX was pronounced dead after spending a week on the ventilator. 

3. James Michael Tyler 

Tyler is, perhaps, best known for his role on the hit show “Friends.” Tyler played Gunther, who’s obsessed with Jennifer Aniston’s Rachael. He was known as the seventh ‘Friend’ on the iconic show. The actor brought laughter to millions due to his superb portrayal of the Central Perk barista. He died on October 24 after a battle with prostate cancer. 

4. Yaphet Kotto 

Kotto was a versatile actor who worked in many hit films. These include Ridley Scott’s “Alien” and James Bond’s “Live and Let Die. He was also Lieutenant Al Giardello in the NBC series “Homicide: Life on the Street.” Kotto passed away on March 15. 

5. Murray Walker 

Fans of Formula 1 know who the iconic voice was behind the premier motorsport. Walker was a giant of motorsport. He was a longtime commentator for the sport. His career spanned for more than two decades (1976 – 2001). The motorsport icon died on March 13. He was 97 at the time of his passing. 

6. Prince Philip 

Britain’s longest-serving consort died on April 9. He was 99 at the time of his passing. Phili was born on June 10, 1921. Philip enlisted into the Royal Navy upon reaching the age of 18. He also participated in the Second World War. His marriage with Queen Elizabeth took place on November 20, 1947. It lasted for 73 years. 

7. Helen McCrory 

British actress Helen McCrory appeared in numerous television series and films. She studied at the Drama Centre London. Her stage career began with “The Importance of Being Earnest” in the nineties. She also played Lady Macbeth at Shakespeare’s Globe. Her film credits include Harry Potter, Hugo, and Skyfall. Her portrayal of Polly Gray in the hit British drama “Peaky Blinders” earned her critical acclaim. She died on April 16 following a battle with breast cancer. 

8. Sean Lock 

Sean Lock was a British stand-up comedian and television and radio personality. Lock began his career in the late nineties. He was known for his comic timing and deadpan delivery style. Lock was also a longtime member of the comedy panel show “8 Out of 10 Cats” and its crossover “8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. He died of cancer on August 16. He was 58 at the time of his passing (Celebrities Who Died In 2021). 

9. Charlie Watts 

Watts was a drummer for the iconic band The Rolling Stones. The legendary drummer had been associated with the band since its creation in 1962. The original band member died on August 24. He was 80 at the time of his death. 

10. Roger Hunt 

Roger Hunt was a giant in the world of football. He was part of the England football team that won the World Cup on July 30, 1966. He also played for Liverpool for 11 years. During his decade-old stint with the club, Hunt scored 286 goals. This feat made him the footballer with the most goals in the club’s history. Ian Rush eventually replaced him as the club’s all-time goal scorer. Hunt died on September 27. He was 83 at the time of his passing.
