Atlanta Station Shooting: ’12’ Years Old Boy Killed

Atlanta Station Shooting: A shooting occurred near Atlantic Station in Atlanta on the weekend of November 24th, 2018. It claimed the life a 12-year old boy.

The incident occurred in an outdoor shopping area, and several people were hurt. Atlanta officials urged parents to be vigilant about their children.

At least one person was killed and at least five other people were injured in a shooting that occurred Saturday near the heart of downtown Atlanta’s shopping district.

The shooting occurred just steps from Atlantic Station’s shopping district at 8 p.m. Shortly after off-duty Atlanta officers and Atlantic Station personnel escorted a group of juveniles off Atlantic Station property, Lieutenant Germaine Dearlove, Atlanta Police Homicide Command, stated in a press release.

Dearlove stated that the group moved to 17th Street, where there was a dispute that escalated into gunfire. The police believe that the victims are between 15- and 21 years of age.

Police said that the shooting took place around 8 p.m. and began with a dispute between two parties. One group moved on to 17th Street where they encountered gunfire. Five people were injured, and one was killed in the shootout that followed.

It is still being investigated. WSB reported that at most 30 gunshots were heard. Zyion Charles was the victim. He was innocently bystander caught in the crossfire. His injuries eventually led to his death, while his twin sister remains in shock.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, the shooting started after several juveniles were taken off the Atlantic Station property and escorted away by off-duty officers. They had been charged with violating the mall’s curfew policies. One teenager is in critical condition and four others are still recovering from gunshot wounds.

According to police, the shooting occurred during Midtown’s holiday festivities. At Atlantic Station, 26 Atlanta police officers were on-duty at the time. To discourage group gatherings, the department increased its presence at Atlantic Station and is currently investigating the shooting.

On Sunday, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens announced the identity of the victim at a press conference on 17th Street Bridge. He stated that the shooting occurred near Atlantic Station and that the victims were students at public schools in the metro Atlanta area.

He said that some of those involved were also from nearby counties. He expressed his sympathy to the families of the victims and stressed the importance for parents to monitor their children.
