Callahan Walsh, John Walsh’s son, muses about his brother Adam’s murder while filming “In Pursuit
Callahan Walsh will never forget the moment he found out that fugitive Luis Frias had been apprehended.
Frias’ storey was first covered in the debut episode of Investigation Discovery’s “In Pursuit With John Walsh,” in which the 35-year-old son of victims rights advocate John Walsh co-stars alongside his father.
Season 2 of the show will focus on unsolved violent crimes and missing persons cases in the hopes that viewers will contact in with leads.
Walsh told Fox Word, “It’s better than a home run when I get the news that we’ve apprehended one of our fugitives.”
“That was a particularly gruesome case… [Frias] enlisted the help of his mother to entice his estranged wife to his grandmother’s flat.
In front of their three children, he was waiting for her and stabbed her 41 times.
He took refuge in Mexico. Janett Reyna, the victim, was a former police officer and the director of the Ponca Tribe’s domestic violence programme in Oklahoma.

“Two US marshals went down to Mexico and linked up with two embedded DEA officers after one of our viewers from Mexico called in the tip,” Walsh added. “
They watched Luis Frias’ house. They managed to take him out.
The Oklahoma State Police supplied the two U.S. marshals Janett Reyna’s state-issued handcuffs, which she used as a law enforcement officer, and they put those handcuffs on Luis Frias’ wrists…
I’m not sure what else to call it if that isn’t poetic justice.”
Frias had been on Walsh’s personal most wanted list since the stabbing in 2013, according to the network.
Walsh’s work with his father, on the other hand, is far from over. This season, in particular, he says, hits close to home.
“This season, there is a case that is quite personal to me,” he said.
“Lindsay Harris was a close friend of mine who disappeared in the Las Vegas region.
Her fragmented remains were discovered some 1600 miles away. Those bones were discovered only 16 days after she vanished, but it took three years for them to be identified as my friend Lindsay Harris.”

He explained, “This is a beautiful young girl whose life was cut short.”
“I was fairly familiar with her and her family. I want to see justice done for her and her family.
I want to see whoever is responsible for Lindsay’s death put behind bars.
However, this case is exceptional in that there is no desired suspect.
We don’t have a fugitive this time, as we usually do. So we’re counting on the public to provide us with the information that will blow this case wide open.”
Walsh’s father, 74, had pondered retiring before the release of “In Pursuit” in 2019.
U.S. marshals, on the other hand, have him identified in the hopes that he can continue to raise consciousness about criminals who haven’t been widely covered by the media.
Walsh, who works at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, said following in his famous father’s footsteps has been an honour.
“I grew up in a family that said, ‘We have to make sure [my brother] Adam didn’t die in vain, and if his song is to continue, we have to do the singing,’” Walsh explained.
“I’m sure many of you are familiar with the storey of my younger brother Adam, a six-year-old boy who was abducted and murdered in South Florida in 1981.

“I observed my parents pour their emotions, fury, and energy into ensuring that there was a response mechanism in place for missing children because there was so little aid at the time.
On ‘America’s Most Wanted,’ I witnessed my father apprehend fugitive after fugitive.
They never lost hope, and they never stopped fighting.
As a result, I’m here to follow in their footsteps. Huge shoes to fill, but I’m doing my best to defend Adam’s honour.”
Adam’s murder sparked interest in missing children and spawned the television show “America’s Most Wanted.””
Ottis E. Toole, a vagrant and convicted serial killer who confessed to the slaying and then recanted before dying in prison in 1996, was suspected of killing Adam in 2008.
Adam’s severed head was discovered two weeks later in Vero Beach, 120 miles north of the mall across from police headquarters where he was stolen, according to the New York Times. His remains were never discovered.

To assist and console other families, the Walsh family founded the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
According to the New York Times, they also assisted in lobbying Congress to pass the Missing Children’s Act in 1982, which established a nationwide computer database of information on missing children at the FBI.
On the 25th anniversary of Adam’s disappearance, President George W. Bush signed the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act into law.
This resulted in the expansion of the National Sex Offender Registry, which in turn resulted in the creation of a new child abuse registry and increased the severity of sanctions for crimes against children.
What about retirement? That is not something Walsh expects his father to do anytime soon.
He added, “I’m not sure that’s ever going to happen.” “He gave it a shot once, but it didn’t work out.
That’s one of the reasons he’s back on ‘In Pursuit.’ ‘We have some extremely terrible guys out there [and] we need your cooperation,’ stated US marshals.
We need you to get back on your horse.’ And it’s an honour for me to share the screen with him.
In Season 2, we’re going after genuine terrible criminals with the help of the public, seeking to win justice for families who so desperately need it.
