However, the management of the chain believes that a remodel is necessary. According to corporate thinking, stores are often cramped and dim, stuffed into awkward layouts, and overflowing with everything. (Would you like some Tostitos with that ointment?) ).

One outlet at 200 Water Street is already being renovated by the company. Another at 460 Eighth Avenue is at 34th Street. The company hopes to remodel more than 100 stores by 2011. It’s unclear whether New Yorkers will cheer on the changes, but Joe Jackman is the acting chief marketing officer of the chain.
