Hurricane Larry

Hurricane Larry is expected to hit the Caribbean. It is predicted to impact the Lesser Antilles, parts of Greater Antilles, as well the Bahamas.

Hurricane Larry Forecast to weaken

Larry is a strong hurricane. It originated in the eastern tropical Atlantic. It began to stir the waters of the central Atlantic Ocean Tuesday afternoon. It’s now heading west. Larry will start to lose strength before it gets to Bermuda.

Increasing wind shear will be the culprit. It will also have to deal with cooler waters. Larry will likely continue to be large-scale despite these conditions. The larger storm will produce rip currents and large swells that will hit parts of the eastern U.S. and the Bahamas. It could be dangerous for people.

A subtropical high pressure systems will also steer Larry towards the north. The satellite will be moving towards Bermuda by Thursday. Larry is still very powerful, even though there are no imminent land threats.

Bermuda is under Tropical Storm Watch. By Thursday night or Friday, Hurricane Larry is expect to become a Category 3. It will also become a Category-4 hurricane by the weekend. Larry’s storm surge will create dangerous rip currents on the United States coast and in the Lesser Antilles.

Forecast to impact the Lesser Antilles, portions of the Greater Antilles, and the Bahamas

Hurricane Larry is moving northward over the Atlantic Ocean. As it moves, it is expect to generate large swells that will affect parts of the Lesser Antilles and Bahamas. These swells are also expect to affect the east coast United States.

Larry’s central point is 715 miles north of the northern Leeward Islands. It can sustain maximum winds up to 120 mph. Although this storm has not been declar a hurricane, it is consider one of the most dangerous. Despite its strength, the center is not expect to make landfall in the U.S. Larry is forecast to bring significant waves to the east coast midweek, however.

Bermuda has been place under a tropical storm watch. Expect strong sea swells to hit Bermuda by Thursday. Expect seas up to 45ft. These large waves could cause coastal flooding issues along the Mid Atlantic and the East Coast.

On Wednesday night, Tropical Storm Conditions are predict to reach Bermuda. Weather conditions are expect to persist throughout the weekend.

Impact on the United States

The economic impact of a Hurricane on the United States can be devastating. This can include delivery delays, product scarcity, and more.

Hurricanes can also damage warehouses, transportation infrastructure, and power lines. You may also notice a shift in the supply/demand equation due to the disruptions caused by hurricanes.

Houston, Texas is one of the major transport hubs in America. It’s home to many major manufacturing and chemical centers, as well. The number of freight load coming from Houston fell 72% after Hurricane Harvey.

Huge disruptions caused by Hurricanes may also result in major fuel shortages. Since Hurricane Harvey, the cost of gasoline rose by 15%. This trend is expect to continue. The cost of goods transportation can increase depending on the area where hurricanes strike.

Strategies are being implement by transportation companies to combat climate change. It is the U.S.’s largest source of greenhouse gases emissions.
