Sources say Julian Becerra was killed after falling 40 feet from a bridge in South Colorado Springs during a pursuit on Thursday, February 2, 2023.
His friends and colleagues have paid tribute to him since his death was announced on social media. They also offered deep condolences to his family, who are grieving the loss of their bravest family member.
The Fountain Police Department announced his death by saying, “We appreciate the support that the public has shown over the past week for Officer Becerra and his family.”
The family requests privacy as they work through the difficult task of Julian’s final rest. This is an ongoing process. The family has decided not to make any public statements at the moment.
The Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs was visited by law enforcement officials and fire department personnel at the last minute of Julian Becerra’s death.
Julian Becerra Death cause
Sources claim that Julian Becerra fell off a bridge while several carjacking suspects were pursuing him and another officer. This happened on February 2, 2023.
The incident occurred, and the officer died at the hospital. The brave officer, who was 35 years old, lost his life. Officials say that on February 2, police officers stopped a lengthy car chase and incapacitated the suspect vehicle, forcing it to stop close to South Academy Boulevard.
The driver got out of his car and ran. Becerra also got out of the vehicle and fled. The FPD reported that Becerra fell from the bridge 40 feet below the accident scene.
“It is with great sadness that we at Fountain Police Department inform the public that K-9 Officer Julian Becerra succumbed to injuries sustained during an incident on duty that took place on February 2, 2023.”
