Sarah Matthews was a former Special Assistant for President Donald Trump and Deputy White House Press Secretary. She is also a Republican. And she has a career path within the party that includes hopes of becoming a presidential candidate.
Sarah worked as a communications and marketing assistant at Kent State University. As a teenager, she interned for US Senator Rob Portman. Sarah worked with John Boehner as speaker, and she was also a Hill intern.
After completing her bachelor’s degree, Sarah graduated with a public relations degree from Kent State. She moved to Washington, DC shortly after she graduated. She worked before joining the White House as a communications assistant for both the House Committee on Homeland Security and House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
Sarah began her career as a Deputy press secretary in the Trump administration. Her salary was $106,000. An attack was then made on the US Capitol on January 6, 2019. Matthew Pottinger, Trump’s national-security advisor, was forced to resign following the attack.
The ripple effect caused many other White House staffers to resign. Sarah Matthews was one of the many who quit her post as Deputy Press Secretary.

During her time in the White House, Sarah Matthews worked as a deputy press secretary for President Donald Trump. After the Capitol riots, Matthews resigned. Five people were kill in the riots.
During the hearing, Matthews said that she was shocked by the violence. She agreed to testify, despite her protests. She is likely to give details of her conversations with other aides.
Many aides were of the opinion that Trump was not a supporter of violence. Others believe that Trump a Godlike figure and should not be held responsible for violence.
Matthews was in the West Wing when the riots began. Matthews instructed a colleague not to watch the television while the mob stormed Capitol building. Matthews made this comment to a colleague, causing several agitations in the room.
Matthews claimed that she has been a Republican all her life. She said she is proud to be an Ohioan. In her testimony she supported the committee’s work and called on for a peaceful transfer of power.
