The Chosen OneNetflix announced that two cast members of “The Chosen One,” a Netflix series, were killed in an accident in Baja California Sur on Thursday. Six other crew members and cast members were also injured.

Netflix stated that the accident happened while transiting from Santa Rosalia to the airport. According to Netflix, the accident did not occur on set. The company stated that four crew members and two cast members were still in good health.

The company didn’t give any details, but The Associated Press reported the crew and cast were in a van that crashed.

Netflix announced that Redrum, the production company behind this show, had temporarily halted production. Redrum representatives could not immediately be reached for comment Sunday.

According to Netflix, “The Chosen One” is about a 12-year-old boy who discovers that he is the returning Jesus Christ and is destined to save humanity. Based on a comic series by Mark Millar, and Peter Gross, the show will air in 2019. In April, Netflix announced via Twitter that filming had begun in Mexico.

The Baja California State Government confirmed Friday that Raymundo Garduno Cruz, and Juan Francisco Gonzalez Aguilar were the victims in a Facebook statement.

SAG-AFTRA (the union representing film, television, and radio workers) stated in a statement that they had been in touch with Netflix as well as Asociacion Nacional de Actores which represents Mexican actors about the accident.
