Tiffany Jackson Death Cause: According to a statement posted on their website Monday, the University of Texas at Austin women’s basketball team is “mourning” the passing of Longhorn legend Tiffany Jackson. According to the school, Jackson, 37 years old, died after a fight with breast cancer.

Chiney Ogwumike, current Los Angeles Sparks player, and 2014 first overall selection, shared her condolences via Twitter. She noted the impact Jackson’s death had on her career.

Jackson was a three-time All-American during four years with Texas Longhorns. She was also the fifth overall draft pick for the 2007 Women’s National Basketball Association draft.
The Texas native played for the New York Liberty (formerly Tulsa Shock) and Los Angeles Sparks from 2007-2018. (previously retired in May 2018).
In September 2015, Jackson was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer while in the Shock. Jackson successfully underwent treatment and returned to Israel in February 2015. This started a comeback. Jackson became Wiley College’s women’s basketball coach in 2022 after four years as a Texas assistant.

On Tuesday, the Susan G. Komen Foundation posted a touching tribute about Jackson.
“Everyone at Komen shocked to hear about the passing of Tiffany Jackson, 37-year-old @WNBA, from #breastcancer,” said the foundation . Vic Shaefer, University of Texas coach, said that she was “one of the greatest players of Texas women’s basketball history.”

The WNBA acknowledged the death of the star player in a tweet on Tuesday. It wrote: “We are saddened by the passing of Tiffany Jackson, a member our WNBA family. Tiffany Jackson’s family is in our thoughts and prayers.

In a tweet, Jackson honored by TOGETHXR, a digital platform for women’s sport that co-founded and founded by Sue Bird , a former WNBA player.
