Woman Myra Butter was considered an intimate friend of both Her Majesty and Prince Philip. Woman Butter hails from Scotland and has five children; she is descended from Alexander Pushkin (playwright, novelist, poet) and Tsar Nicholas I of Russia (also a descendent).
Woman Butter and the Queen began as friends when they were both younger girls. The Queen persuaded Woman Butter to do things with her such as attend Brownies meetings and go swimming together.
In 1937, while Queen Elizabeth was still a princess, Myra joined Elizabeth in founding the first Lady Guides group at Buckingham Palace. Last year, Woman Myra spoke to The Telegraph about her time with the Lady Guides: “They got some women involved which made it more enjoyable.”
“There were so many unique individuals within the Guides and Brownies, it was wonderful. Some were family members, while all children in Royal Mews were either Brownies or Guides – it truly felt like a typical pack!”
Woman Butter was close to Her Majesty and Prince Philip. When Philip passed away last year at 99 years old, she paid him an uplifting tribute. She stated that without him, Queen Elizabeth II would be lost without her husband. At that time, Woman Butter said of Duke of Edinburgh: “Nobody else could have done that job – not anyone.” He may have been slow on his feet at times, but never as a person.”
On June 2, 2022 in London, England, Queen Elizabeth II will watch the Trooping the Color ceremony from Buckingham Palace’s balcony. Referred to as The Queen’s Birthday Parade, this navy ritual has been performed since 1730 to commemorate her actual birthday – June 2.
To mark Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee which takes place between June 2-5, 2022 throughout the UK and Commonwealth countries from June 2-6, it will be observed throughout these regions from June 2- June 5.
In January this year, Lady Butter returned the Pushkin medal President Vladimir Putin had presented her for bringing together Russian and Scottish schoolchildren after Russia invaded Ukraine.
She stated that she did so with “great remorse.” Sadly, both Duchess of Grafton and Woman Farnham passed away shortly before this tragic news became public.
The Daily Mail reports that Woman Farnham had served as Queen Elizabeth II’s “Woman of the Bedchamber” since 1987, meaning she is responsible for fulfilling her personal needs.
She had long been a staunch supporter of her and during Diamond Jubilee celebrations in 2021 when Prince Philip was ill and couldn’t go, she filled in for him. Tragically, both Lady Farnham and Duchess of Grafton passed away shortly after each other at the end of a difficult year for Queen Elizabeth – often referred to as Her Second “Annus Horribilis”.
