Nyle DiMarco, born May 8, 1989, is an American actor, model, and deaf activist. DiMarco won season 22 of America’s Next Top Model on The CW in 2015. He was the second male winner and first winner for deaf people. He and his professional partner Peta Murgatroyd won season 22 of the ABC televised dance contest Dancing with the Stars.
DiMarco was originally born Nyle Thompson in Queens, New York. He explained in 2016 that “We changed our last names from Thompson to DiMarco (our mom’s maiden name) at some point.” He is English, Scottish and German. DiMarco was born in Frederick, Maryland.
He attended the Maryland School for the Deaf. After graduating from Gallaudet University with a mathematics degree in 2013, he returned to Maryland. Although American Sign Language (ASL), is his native tongue, he can also write fluently in English. Nyle can also communicate with nonverbally and lip reading. He is a brother to a fraternal twin, Nico as well as an older brother, Neal.

Queens, N.Y. was home to the first American deaf winner of America’s Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars. He was raised with his mother Donna, father Neal, and two brothers who are all deaf. As a young boy, DiMarco noticed changes in his father. He was suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.
DiMarco, 32 years old, said that he didn’t want his father to be in a room alone. He disappeared for days, then became violent and unpredictable.
DiMarco claims that he would hit him if his mom wasn’t there. He told his mother what was happening and she filed for divorce. Then He also moved his family to Maryland.
