The Who Fell To Earth review

Based on the 1963 science fiction novel by Walter Tevis, The Man Who Fell to Earth is an action-packed drama about a scientist, Faraday, who accidentally falls to Earth.

While the story has its share of fish-out-of-water moments, the movie’s most memorable element is Ejiofor’s slick, suave performance as Faraday, who gives a TED-like speech to the audience about his latest invention.

Though the plot and characters from the original movie are retained in this adaptation, the film doesn’t really live up to the hype. Instead, it feels more like HBO’s “Westworld” than a traditional sci-fi film.

And while Kurtzman and Lumet have adapted classic sci-fi properties to television, “The Man Who Fell to Earth” deviates further from the original material with each twist and turn.

Nonetheless, the film is anchored by a strong performance from Ejiofor, but struggles to rise above the praise given to its first two episodes.
