Jennifer Dulos : Just days before the two-year anniversary of Jennifer Farber Dulos’ disappearance and presumed death, one of the senior police officials leading the investigation vows investigators would “never rest” until the adored mother’s body is found.
Jennifer Dulos mystery: New Canaan police chief won’t rest until her body is recovered two years after she vanished
Since Jennifer Dulos was last seen arriving at her New Canaan home on May 24, 2019, the search for the 50-year-old mother of five – and for answers as to what happened to her – has grown into the most extensive investigation the state of Connecticut has ever seen, according to New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski in his first interview with Laura Ingle about the case. the investigation is still going on.
On the morning of May 24, Dulos was seen on tape by a neighbor’s surveillance camera driving home.
Her automobile was then seen leaving the house, though authorities believe it was driven by her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos. Her SUV was located abandoned in a neighbouring park hours later.
“I believe it was done to confuse investigators… to make it appear as though she had vanished on her own, and to provide us a search area that the suspects knew would take time, “Regarding the facts around where and how the vehicle was left, Krolikowski stated.
“And I believe it was all done to derail the inquiry and make it appear as if it was something it wasn’t.”
When detectives arrived, the vehicle’s gear was switched to neutral or reverse, according to Krolikowski.
“In a way that seemed like somebody rapidly left the automobile,” he stated of the SUV’s abandonment.
Fotis Dulos, 52, was charged with murder, criminal murder, and kidnapping in January 2020.
Michelle Troconis, his girlfriend, and Kent Mawhinney, a local attorney, were charged with murder conspiracy. All three have categorically denied any involvement.
Jennifer’s home, notably her garage, was found to have blood stains and signs of clean-up efforts.
“When the detectives arrived at the property, we noticed indicators in the garage that there had been probable blood and that there looked to be a clean-up, which just added to our concern.
As a result, we had to speed up the inquiry “According to Krolikowski. He refused to provide any additional information on the garage’s condition.
Cell phone data then traced Fotis to Hartford, Conn., where security film showed him throwing what seemed to be plastic bags along the street in a case-breaking development.
Jennifer’s blood was later found in the objects. Michelle was with him at the time, according to the police.
Krolikowski told Fox News, “That was a big break in the case.” “Everyone has seen the photos of… Fotis and Michelle in the truck, as well as down Albany Avenue. And that was simply a significant piece of the puzzle that, in my opinion, needs to be explained.”
Dulos sat down for an interview just a month before his death, but he refused to answer key questions, claiming a gag order in effect.
Jennifer and Fotis Dulos were in the midst of a difficult divorce and custody fight when she vanished.
Jennifer claimed in a court petition dated June 20, 2017: “My Husband makes me nervous.
I’m well aware that filing for divorce and this Motion will infuriate him. I’m sure he’ll try to damage me in some way in retaliation.”
“She is completely unaware of the disappearance. She knew very little about the divorce process, and for several months prior to Jennifer Dulos’ disappearance, she was completely unaware of the day-to-day concerns surrounding the divorce “According to Schoenhorn.
“It is not realistic to assume that Michelle had any notion what else Fotis Dulos was involved in just because she was the girlfriend,” he later added.
“We’re not disputing the fact she was in a pickup truck with Fotis Dulos,” Schoenhorn said.
“What we disagree about is whether she had anything to do with the fact that he stopped three times, not 30, as the warrant wrongly alleged, but three times and threw off some trash,” he added.
Carrie Luft, a representative for Jennifer’s family, said they “are tremendously thankful to the Connecticut State Police, New Canaan Police, and other law enforcement groups that have fought to bring closure to Jennifer’s case” in a statement to Fox News ahead of the two-year anniversary.
Jon Schoenhorn, Troconis’ attorney, insisted on his client’s innocence, saying his client “knew very little” about the Dulos couple’s court battle over the divorce.
She was aware of the custody battle, but she had “no idea what else” was going on.
Dulos died in his Farmington, Connecticut, home at the end of January 2020 after an apparent suicide attempt. He was never charged in the case. Jennifer’s children, who were between the ages of 8 and 13, were in their grandmother’s custody at the time of her disappearance.

“The disappearance of Jennifer Farber Dulos, an exceptional lady, a devoted mother and daughter, a great writer, and a real friend, will mark the two-year anniversary on Monday, May 24,” Luft stated.
“The continuous interest in Jennifer’s case, as well as the concern for her children and family, all of whom are happily well and well, has impacted us.”
The Connecticut State Senate just passed a law known as “Jennifers’ Law,” which, according to Luft, “expands the legal definition of domestic violence to encompass nonviolent coercive control, such as psychological, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse.”
“We think that by modifying the legal definition, we can help people in violent relationships rewrite their stories,” Luft said.
“Jennifer’s case has gotten a lot of attention, but the majority of women who are victims of partner violence never get their stories shared. All of the victims and survivors, as well as their families, children, and loved ones, are in our thoughts and prayers.”
The charges against Troconis and Mawhinney were postponed as a result of the epidemic, according to Paul J. Ferencek, state’s attorney for the Judicial District of Stamford/Norwalk.
Both cases are in the pre-trial stage, according to Ferencek, and “many pretrial motions have been filed and heard before the court, both remotely and in person,” during the past year.
“As both cases move through the court system, the Stamford State’s Attorney’s Office remains focused on prosecuting those responsible for Jennifer Farber Dulos’ murder and seeking justice for her family, as well as working with law enforcement on any and all leads regarding Jennifer’s body,” Ferencek said.
