Gyomei Himejima: The nine Hashira are the Demon Slayer Corps’ cornerstones, and this is why the Stone Hashira Gyomei Himejima is the most powerful of them all.

Who killed Gyomei Himejima?

We’re coming to the end of this. Thus, Himejima tragically dies after putting up the most valiant struggle against Demon King Muzan he could muster. Himejima was essential in the defeat of Kokushibo and the ultimate battle against Muzan, which he won. Is Gyomei capable of defeating Kokushibo in Demon Slayer?

Gyomei Himejima

When it comes to talents, the Hashira of Demon Slayer are all very diverse, and it’s difficult to compare them because their fighting techniques differ so much— yet when it comes to power, Gyomei Himejima is by far the most powerful of the nine.

Without his eyesight, Gyomei Himejima is physically stronger than his colleague Demon Slayer Hashira, carries one of the most amazing Nichirin blades in history, and commands the respect of both Demon Slayers and demons.

Despite the fact that Gyomei hasn’t had much screen time by the end of Demon Slayer season 2 or its predecessors, he has a large supporting role in the manga, where his strength is evident.

The nine Demon Slayer Hashira are second only to Corps chief Kagaya Ubuyashiki in the Demon Slayer Corps’ elite ranks. From Love to Stone to Mist, each Hashira, including Gyomei Himejima, is a master of a different Breathing Style.

They’re all given an area to look over, keeping an eye out for demons and honing their skills even further – some Hashira even hire students to take their place. Former Hashira Sakonji Urokodaki, the former Water Hashira, and Jigoro Kuwajima, the former Thunder Hashira, both trained Tanjiro Kamado and Zenitsu Agatsuma.

Gyomei Himejima lived in a temple raising nine orphan children before becoming a Demon Slayer Hashira, and he has been blind since birth. Gyomei Himejima beat the demon with his bare fists until daylight after an invading demon killed all but one of the children.

He was wrongfully imprisoned for the murders of the children, but Ubuyashiki protected him from death. After only two months in the Demon Slayer Corps, he became a Demon Slayer and was promoted to the duty of Stone Pillar.

Himejima is clearly a notch above even the most powerful of his Hashira companions in Demon Slayer based on this backstory alone.

Why Gyomei Himejima Is Demon Slayer’s Strongest Hashira

Gyomei Himejima’s might is obvious in fight, which is one of the reasons he is Demon Slayer’s most powerful Hashira. With only brute physical power and no blade, Gyomei was able to keep a demon at away until daylight. His Nichirin Blade is one of the best-crafted blades in history, as he is the only Demon Slayer Hashira with a blade that assumes the shape of an axe.

Gyomei Himejima used his superhuman hearing to adapt and follow the sound of the chain during fight to track his weapon and complement his lack of vision throughout his training.

Gyomei is also a master of deductive thinking and strategies. During a confrontation against an Upper Rank demon, he used this knowledge to uncover the Transparent World, giving him the power to “see” his opponents as if they were there in front of him.

Demon Slayer’s Nine Hashiras Explained

Each Hashira possesses unique capabilities and talents, and they are all immensely powerful, just like Muzan Kibutsuji’s demons in Demon Slayer. Each Demon Slayer Hashira employs a unique breathing technique drawn from one of the five main disciplines of Stone, Flame, Wind, Water, and Thunder, all of which are descended from the original Sun Breathing technique.

In total, the Demon Slayer Corps has nine Hashiras, each of them has their distinct breathing and combat style. Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito, Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji, Insect Hashira Shinobu Kocho, Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa, Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro, Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka, Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui, and Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku are among the Hashira.

So far, the Demon Slayer anime has focused on Shinobu and Tomioka as key characters, with Demon Slayer season 2 and the Mugen Train Arc centering on Uzui and Rengoku, respectively.

Even within such a formidable group of Demon Slayer Hashira, Demon Slayers and demons alike regard Gyomei Himejima as the most powerful Hashira. While Gyomei has yet to appear in a major role in the Demon Slayer anime, both Tanjiro and Inosuke declare him to be the most powerful Demon Slayer in the Corps in the book.

Similarly, Kokushibo, an Upper Rank 1 demon, has stated that Gyomei Himejima’s powers have reached their pinnacle and that he is the highest-caliber warrior he has encountered in 300 years.

Finally, Gyomei’s rapid promotion to the honorary rank of Hashira — and by the Demon Slayer Corps’s commander, no less — is a testimonial to his strength.

While other Demon Slayer Hashiras like as Giyu Tomioka and Sanemi Shinazugawa may not be far behind Gyomei Himejima in terms of swordsmanship, his steady disposition balances out his contemporaries, who can be either too volatile or too restrained.

Following the Mugen Train chapter in the manga, Gyomei begins to play a key part, therefore viewers may see more of Gyomei Himejima in action in Demon Slayer’s forthcoming seasons.
