But, beyond from that, little is known about the erasing hero’s background or how he came to be a hero at all. Fans who want a better understanding of who Mr. Aizawa is and how he came to be the hero he is now in My Hero Academia need look no further. There will be spoilers for the anime and manga series ahead.

Daniel Kurland updated this page on August 5th, 2021: Shota Aizawa has been an important part of U.A. High since the beginning of MHA, and he’s become even more so when characters like All Might and Endeavor require more assistance. Eraser Head strikes the perfect blend of preparedness and proactiveness, but there’s more to this hero than meets the eye in some areas.

1. He appoints Hitoshi Shinso to be his pupil.

Season five of My Hero Academia finally descends into darkness as the Paranormal Liberation War breaks out. Still, even before that chaos, the Joint Training Competition between U.A. High’s 1A and 1B Classes provided an amusing display of strength. The lone exception is Hitoshi Shinso, a Class 1C student, who Aizawa takes under his wing to teach the right principles in him and adequately prepare him for the tournament. Eraser Head is still on the lookout for Shinso, and they still have a lot of training to do.

2. His Cloth Weapons Capture Techniques and the Physics Behind Them

Shota Aizawa is a unique hero since his Erasure Quirk can render even the most potent foes helpless. Aizawa becomes an easy target due to this, but he also has several vital accessories that make him even more lethal. The long scarf covering Eraser Head’s body is one of the hero costume’s distinctive elements. This is a type of hero equipment known as a Capturing Weapon, which has the ability to tie opponents and follow its user’s directions to some extent. With their training, Eraser Head even passes on his knowledge in this area to Hitoshi Shinso.

3. His Preference for Comfortable Sleeping

Any hero must strike a delicate balance, and failing to do so might lead to burnout or unreliability when it matters most. Shota Aizawa isn’t one to shirk duties, and the extra effort he puts into U.A. High’s activities demonstrates how much he loves tomorrow’s heroes.

On the other hand, Aizawa values comfort and is past the point of allowing social stumbling blocks to obstruct his progress. When Aizawa feels burned out and wants to recover, he is known to slip into a cozy sleeping bag, even at work.

4. He’s Been Using Eye Drops For A Long Time

It takes a lot of discipline and patience to be one of the best heroes, and certain people must maintain constant discipline and patience to ensure that nothing gets past them. Aggressive Quirks may be able to blow up a room with no repercussions simply, but Shota Aizawa’s Erasure Quirk necessitates just as much intuition and impromptu problem solving as it does physical touch. Eraser Head must pay close attention to every aspect to fully comprehend his foes’ quirks. As a result of his constant opening, Aizawa’s eyes grow extremely dry, and look drops become the hero’s best friend.

5. He has consistently risen in popularity polls.

Popularity isn’t everything, and there have been many instances where the public’s favorite characters differ from the author’s chosen ones. However, significant popularity trends can sometimes have an unavoidable impact on the character’s trajectory.

Eraser Head is someone from My Hero Academia who’s slowly acquired more acclaim. In the first popularity poll, he’s in 9th position, but then 4th in the following one. Aizawa maintains steady rankings, and in the last two popularity polls, he was ranked 7th and then 5th, indicating that he is on the rise.

6. Eraser Head was his given name by the present Mic.

Thanks to mangaka Kohei Horikoshi’s work on My Hero Academia, fans worldwide have been introduced to some of the most unusual and magnificent superheroes to ever appear in fiction. Fans are introduced to U.A., the school that will educate the future generation of heroes, in My Hero Academia.

Fans will be enthralled as the young heroes begin to create their heroic personas, starting with their superhero names, which they chose for themselves in class. However, a young Present Mic gave Aizawa the name Eraser Head while he was still unsure of himself at school.

7. He is a cat lover.

Shota Aizawa is a cat person, which should not surprise anyone. Indeed, it was a chance encounter with a cat when he was younger that helped to confirm his identity as the remarkable hero he would one day become.

Aizawa would stop and leave his umbrella for the poor young cat left out in the rain after running into a stray cat on his route to school on a wet day.

Aizawa would go to school in the rain without an umbrella since he didn’t know what else to do and he was already on his way to school. Later, his friend Oboro would arrive late to school with the same stray cat that Aizawa had abandoned in the rain.

8. He Wasn’t Always Sure He Wanted To Be A Hero

After the event with the cat and witnessing how Eraser Head’s companion, Oboro, had done more courageously than Aizawa, Aizawa began to doubt his ability to become a hero.

What could he possibly do when dealing with real trouble if he couldn’t even save a poor little cat from the rain? His Quirk wasn’t as strong as some of the others in his class, and he couldn’t do much on his own at this time. But Oboro and his companion Hizashi (the young Present Mic) were there to encourage him that if he believed in himself, he may one day become a great hero.

9. His Googles were given to him by his friend Oboro Shirakumo.

Shota begins doing some essential patrols with Oboro after being hired by His Purple Highness and his companion Oboro for their work-study, wanting to assist and gain some experience wherever they can. However, after their first encounter with a burglar who can emit smoke from his body, Aizawa is rendered practically useless.

The burglar escapes, much to the chagrin of everyone on Aizawa’s team. Though Aizawa is devastated by what happened, Oboro pulls him aside and asks him what he could have done differently in the same (or similar) situation. Oboro chooses to lend Aizawa his goggles after a brief deliberation, knowing that they will prevent the young Aizawa from being blinded if they reencounter the thief.

10. Oboro Is Also The One Who Suggested Aizawa Work With Children For The First Time.

Oboro and Aizawa spend a lot of time together while working for His Purple Highness, doing their best to become better heroes. Oboro notices how attentive and considerate Aizawa is when interacting with the young children they escorting one day when accompanying them to their school.

Oboro informs Aizawa that he was fantastic with the kids and should explore a profession working with younger children after they start dropping off the youngsters. Though Aizawa does not share Oboro’s sentiments, Oboro’s observation is confirmed when a child individually greets Aizawa.

11. During His First Big Bout With The Villain Garvey, He Lost His Best Friend (Oboro).

Aizawa and Oboro are urged to vacate the region soon after dropping the children off at school since Garvey’s villain is in the area, creating havoc. As soon as they arrive at the school, Oboro utilizes his Quirk, Cloud, which allows him to produce clouds solid enough to support weight, to prevent the building from collapsing on the children. Despite his best efforts, he cannot prevent the rubble from falling on him.

12. Then he proceeded to defeat Garvey on his own.

With his mentor, His Purple Highness, gone and his friend Oboro (unknown to Aizawa at the time) dead, Aizawa does everything he can to stop Garvey. Though Aizawa is still unsure of himself as a hero, he hears Oboro’s voice encouraging him.

With Oboro cheering him on, Aizawa defeats the villain who assassinated his mentor on his own and hurries to find Oboro. When he reaches the scene where Oboro was last seen, however, all the witnesses are his friend being carried away in a corpse bag.

13. After Oboro’s death, Aizawa withdrew almost entirely within himself.

Following the death of his friend Oboro, who had guided Aizawa through every stage of his hero’s journey and with whom he had planned to create a Pro Hero corporation after graduating from U.A., Aizawa grew increasingly reclusive.

Eraser Head ceased mingling altogether, and despite having above-average grades, he began to concentrate solely on fighting training. Though his teachers were concerned about the young kid, there was little they could do to assist the young Aizawa, who was clearly in distress.

14. Midnight is the hero who pushed Aizawa to pursue a career as a teacher.

Aizawa goes into business for himself after graduating from U.A. and becomes a hero who only fights villains. After some time and success, Aizawa runs into Midnight, with whom he had previously worked up His Purple Highness.

Midnight informs him that U.A.’s principal has personally requested that she become a teacher at the school and that Aizawa should consider doing the same. Midnight writes a referral on his behalf (without his knowledge), and he gets approved as a teacher at U.A., despite Aizawa’s objections that he wouldn’t be good with the pupils.

15. After a raid on the Villain Factory, Aizawa meets with all of his majesties.

Aizawa is persuaded (again, by Midnight) to start cooperating with the police at a particular point in his career, as the number of villain attacks on him has dramatically increased. After learning that Onumura Pharma Corp has been developing a medicine called Trigger that enhances the skills of weak quirks, the police and the heroes plan a raid on the villains’ manufacturing facility.

Aizawa will encounter Toshinori Yagi for the first time after this raid, though he is unaware of it. All Might is still oblivious to the fact that he is the hero.
